Myanmar is waiting the day of good and stable internet speed

When meeting with people who work in tech industry in Myanmar, the one thing they always say is they don’t have good internet. It’s true. Even though Ooredoo and Telenor entered Myanmar telecommunication market and MPT got partnered with KDDI company, we are not still getting a stable internet connectivity.
We don’t have too much internet service providers in Myanmar. We can say Yatanarpon, Myanmar Post Telecommunication, Red Link, Fortune International, and some other companies. Ooredoo and Telenor are providing mobile data currently.

As far as I know, the internet cable connecting to Singapore under sea water is the main source, all service providers are relying. There are only two or three Fibre internet service provider in Myanmar and Fortune International is the most popular. But they can only provide 4Mbps speed. But it is pretty good for us if we get that full speed. Actually we are not getting the stable internet speed and got slow connection most of the time. When I talk with people from other countries via Skype, it never becomes a perfect call and sometime call is dropped because of very slow internet.

It makes global internet company afraid to make internet business in Myanmar. By adding another problem which is lack of online payment system, it make sure global online business company not to come in yet Myanmar. It not only effect on business but also to every individuals. Lack of good internet speed make people difficult to learn things online. When surfing for some information, it is quiet hard. To watch TED talk videos is still a big dream of local entrepreneurs.

We are very positive on the condition because it was very worse in the past and today is 10 times better than before 2005 period. Myanmar people learn new things and welcome global companies by waiting good and stable internet speed.
