Online sale market status in Myanmar

After Myanmar government opened the business door to west countries, many IT company are entering Myanmar and launching their business. Many include online business which they make a platform for those to buy and sell online. It seems like many e-commerce website are growing bigger than before in the past.


Only one problem that people in the field facing is online payment system. Many developer and technology providers from local and global have tried to develop a system by which money can get transferred. The system like myanmpay, money, etc came out for the market. But as people are still not getting used to with it, it makes online buying and selling use COD (cash on delivery) system. But people in the E-commerce field also know that it is not a solution to develop a perfect system. Then so local banks such as KBZ, CB, Ayeyarwaddy and many other banks are trying to integrated with global payment/ credit/debit card: MasterCard, PayPal and so on. KBZ announced, in the last few day, that Myanmar people can start using MasterCard which is globally authorized to use any countries in the world. But only few people know it and some said it still need to get develop more because it is difficult to use locally.

I would say that it is a good news that we can use global online payment account system in Myanmar, but still I see some obstacle for it because people don’t get used to with it. On the other hand, to educate the people became the first priority so that people know and can start using. For us now, we can see that some are providing a platform to users for buying and selling things online. The listing website became a solution people to get familiar with online sale. Even there we can still see many listing website around the world providing a platform people to buy and sell their products online. If there a perfect global payment system got well-developed in Myanmar, I can say that many global online business company will not hesitate to invest in Myanmar for founding more E-commerce websites.

t seems like many more local and global listing and E-commerce websites and companies are also launching their business in Myanmar.
