Is Myanmar a slow country?

 

I heard a conversation between two foreigner on the road, saying that 'Myanmar is a slow country'. I discovered their experience on buying each cups of coffee in the shop, and it took them more than ten minutes.


I also see that some of my foreign work-mate felt unpleasant by Myanmar local internet speed in Yangon. Even though we, in the office, are using the fastest package of the local service provider, it take more than 5 second to load a page, and sometime, the connection is off for no reason. It also take much time to make a short travel within Yangon because of road traffic everywhere. For any local people else to attend their office, they always have to spend average two extra hours on the road.


Then the comment of the foreigners, that Myanmar is a slow country, seems true. Due to uncompleted English language skill of local work force, the productivity of the country is smaller than other countries also. So what we gonna do? Basically this is the long term problem of Myanmar since 1980s that is unsolved. This is not only the responsibility of the Government and also of every citizen in Myanmar. We don't need to be first in working process, but we have to reduce the wasted time and find the best way to produce fast.

The quality of each person needs to be developed also to improve productivity. The Government would also have to support the good internet, offer the good transportation, offer updated machine for every industry and so on to Myanmar people. But I think it would be too complicated to request all of this things currently from Government because Myanmar is also taking so long  today in facing other problems relating to refugee cases, local rebel crises, religion crises, constitution, um-employment crises,and so on. 

Taking much time everywhere in Myanmar would slow down the development of the country.
